this is just a reminder of what is inappropriate vs appropriate for this list.
***CONTENTS
1) job listings are INAPPROPRIATE
2) training session listings are INAPPROPRIATE
3) unrelated messages are INAPPROPRIATE
This is because job and training session listings are a misuse of the CTI list. It is not in keeping with the list's purpose: "CTI (Coaching & Training Ideas) is a community whose purpose is to bring professionals within the coaching and training fields together to share information and best practices with one another".
Also, posting unrelated messages sets a precedent. These messages, no matter how useful, are seemingly welcome. Nevertheless, they could
open the list to all kinds of extraneous suggestion messages.
On occasion moderators will allow such posts. If the list becomes crowed with too many messages then we will seek an alternative.
***FORMS
1) "me too", "thank you", "can you please send me that list of objectives too" posts are INAPPROPRIATE to be sent to the group
2) long untrimmed posts are INAPPROPRIATE (by "trimming" moderators mean CUTTING the quoting of the previous post to as FEW lines as possible)
Sending such messages too is a misuse of the CTI list, not keeping with setting an example for clients and students as per the CTI introduction ("As a community for those within the workplace learning and performance profession, we envision a community where ideas are exchanged in a professional manner that demonstrates the fields in which we work while setting an example for our clients and students.").
Keeping our singleness of form AND purpose in the forefront will help us avoiding the risk of devolving to the insignificant. Therefore, the moderators will reject ANY of the above defined inappropriate post WITHOUT A PERSONAL EXPLANATION.
Also, because coaching, training and facilitating stresses the personal responsibility of the client, the moderators have decided to stress the personal responsibility of the members and put them in charge of editing their own posts. In fact, if a post will be too "messy" to be edited it will be deleted.
