Hey guys. I am well but was really bored today, I finally had 2 days
off! I decided to gain my knowledge this afternoon on Sarcoid. I
didn't really know what it was but my rheumatologist mentioned
something to me the other day about it when i went in for a check up.
I do not really have symptoms of sarc I don't think, but I was
reading that it is quite common to get skin problems. Which I have
all the time. After my first and only dose so far of EN which i got
in around august, I was coming off prednisone at xmas time one week
after my last pill I went out shopping and my face flared up. It was
really burning. All over my nose, cheeks and chin. Bright red in
colour. and the next day I got what I thought was a cold. Burning
eyes and lots of sneezing and running. It was the middle of summer
here and nobody else had a cold! Did I mention that I have had a few
sinus infections in the last few years? And I hate people touching my
nose! Anyway my face was burning for 4 weeks and my nose was the
worst bit. The skin was raised and shiny, all the pores looked like
they had opened up and the other rashes on my face were scaley. It
was a bit embaressing. I went and saw another doctor that I don't
usually see as mine was away on vacation and she gave me some
hydrocortisone cream and some other strong moisturiser to put on it.
I cleared off in about 3 or 4 weeks and the skin on my nose just came
off in nearly one thick, gross piece! Still a couple of scaley bits
on my nostrels. And now I have a flakey patch on my forehead and
scalp. Dry pink patches on my shoulders too. From what I learnt today
is that with sarcoid it is quite common to have sinus problems, a
sensitive nose and also this thing called lupus pernio which looks
exactly like my nose had on it and flakey patches. My chest xrays
came back clear when I had my EN but then some websites say in some
people the symptoms are not noticed. Do you think I should have my
doc run more tests? Anyone else here had anything similar? I tried
posting on the sarc buddies website and it must be down. Sorry for
the long message!
